Where to Stay in Orihuela Costa: Playa Flamenca, Punta Prima or La Zenia

Playa Flamenca, Punta Prima or La Zenia: each area of Orihuela Costa has its own character. We help you choose whether you travel as a family, a couple or for the winter.

One of the first questions when planning a holiday here is simple and very fair: which area should you stay in? The good news is that in Orihuela Costa the distances are short and everything sits a few minutes apart by car. Even so, each area has its own character, and picking the one that suits your trip makes all the difference. As owners who live here all year round, here are the keys to each of them.

Playa Flamenca: beaches, coves and a family feel

This is our favourite area, and not by chance: it pairs wide sandy beaches with rocky coves of clear water, all linked by a promenade made for strolling. The Flamenca Beach centre gathers shops, terraces and services, and on Saturdays it hosts one of the liveliest street markets around. It is a quiet, very family-friendly area, with communal pools and green spaces everywhere.

This is where three of our apartments are: El Rincón, La Calma and El Bosque, all a short walk from the beach, with a pool and a parking space. If you want to get to know the area in detail, we have put together a guide to Playa Flamenca.

Punta Prima: calm coves and close to Torrevieja

Punta Prima lies at the northern tip of Orihuela Costa, right on the border with Torrevieja. It is a slightly more tucked-away area, with calm coves such as Cala Mosca and Cala Estaca, perfect for anyone after a quiet swim without giving up having the town close by: in a few minutes you reach Torrevieja’s marina, markets and city life.

This is where our Parque Recoleta is, a great base for those who want the best of both worlds: the calm of the coast with the convenience of the town nearby.

La Zenia: shopping, a Blue Flag beach and buzz

La Zenia is the liveliest area. Here you’ll find the Zenia Boulevard, the largest shopping centre in the province, and La Zenia beach, with a Blue Flag, golden sand and full services. It is ideal if you like having shops, restaurants and leisure on your doorstep, with a busier atmosphere, especially in high season.

Two more areas worth knowing sit right alongside: Cabo Roig, with its coves and small marina, and Campoamor, further south, one of the quietest, most residential stretches of the coast.

How to choose for your trip

  • Families with children: Playa Flamenca, for its easy beaches, pools and gentle atmosphere.
  • Couples and quiet swims: Punta Prima or the coves of Cabo Roig.
  • Shopping and life: La Zenia, with the Boulevard and the beach at hand.
  • Maximum calm: Campoamor, further south and residential.
  • Long stays or wintering: Punta Prima, with services and Torrevieja next door all year.
