Alicante-Elche airport (ALC) is the natural gateway to the whole southern coast of the province. It receives direct flights from much of Europe and sits a very convenient distance from Orihuela Costa: just over 50 km, covered in around 45 minutes by motorway. Here are your options for that final stretch.
By hire car
This is the most practical choice if you want freedom to move around during your holiday. The airport has all the major hire companies right in the terminal. The route is simple: take the AP-7 / A-7 heading south (Cartagena / Murcia) and come off at Orihuela Costa or Playa Flamenca. With no traffic, the drive is around 45 minutes.
Having a car is especially worthwhile if you plan to explore the surroundings: the Torrevieja salt lagoons, the inland villages or the area’s golf and padel venues. All our apartments have parking, so you won’t need to worry about where to leave it.
By taxi
There’s an official taxi rank just outside the terminal, no booking needed. The journey to Orihuela Costa takes about 45–50 minutes at a fixed inter-urban fare. It’s a convenient, direct option, especially if you arrive at night or with bulky luggage, though it usually works out a little pricier than a transfer booked in advance.
Booked private transfer
If you’re travelling as a family or group, a private door-to-door transfer is often the most cost-effective and comfortable option: you book ahead, the driver waits for you with your name at arrivals and drops you right at the apartment door. The price is fixed and known in advance, with no surprises. It’s our recommendation for anyone travelling with children or landing late. By bus
The most economical option. There are bus lines linking the airport with Torrevieja and other coastal towns, from where you connect with local transport towards Orihuela Costa. It’s slower and involves a change or two, but it works well if you travel light and aren’t in a hurry. It’s worth checking timetables beforehand, as frequency varies by season.
Arrival and check-in
